Why Is Animal Testing Unethical

Decent Essays
Though I believe animal testing is cruel and unethical, it is currently the single most accurate option. Inarguably, scientific research has led to countless breakthroughs and saved millions of lives. Ultimately, the harsh treatments endured by animals is highly wrong, but this research still remains vital for treating and curing diseases. Animal testing plays a crucial role in sustaining the human race and without it, many of us would not be alive today.

However, with that being said, I stand completely against cosmetic testing on animals. Not only is this form of experimentation brutally harmful, it generally does not provide accurate results. This is due to the difference in blood vessel distribution in humans and animals. Because of

Any cosmetic or medical companies will tell consumers that their products are the best since it has been tested on animals for safety, but the truth behind animal testing will make buyers think twice about their merchandise. Nowadays, more and more people are teaming up against animal testing. Laboratory testing is done on substances that make up medication and cosmetics, such as perfume, lotion, soap, etc. Animals are used to develop medical treatments, determine the toxicity of medications, and check the safety of products destined for human use. Substances are injected into animal’s bodies to prove that products are harmless to people, and the environment.…

Although using animal testing for medical research still occurs today and some may agree or disagree with the policy, using animals for testing is cruel and inhumane, alternative methods replace the need for test subjects, and the results are often unreliable since they are not the same as human beings. Many scientist and proponents of animal testing declare that the animals are being treated humanely but according to a government survey, “Across the EU, 93% of research is conducted on animals which are not counted under the US Animal Welfare Act.” These animals are especially vulnerable to mistreatment and abuse without the protection of the AWA.…

“Some would have you believe there are alternatives for all animal research or that animal testing is always misleading and unsafe.” (1) These people are correct; animal testing is a very unethical way to do research and it can and should be avoided. I found “Should we experiment on animals? Yes” by Colin Blakemore, online at Telegraph. I disagree with Colin Blakemore’s belief that animal testing is ethical and is an accurate way to do research.…

Why Animals Shouldn’t Be Use For Research An estimated of 100 million animals are use in laboratories for biology lessons, medical training, curiosity experimentation, chemical, drug, food, scientific and cosmetics testing. In my opinion animals, testing shouldn’t be allowed because it isn’t right, it’s inhumane, cruel in every way. Animal testing is unnecessary when there is now alternative ways which do not involve the use of animals it’s also a waste of government money. Testing on animals is inhumane and cruel.…

Is animal testing ever justified? Some people believe that medical testing on animals to advance in medical research is necessary; however, cosmetic animal testing is never justified. There are plenty of other alternatives that can be used. Cosmetic animal testing should be banned because it does not improve human life or lead to any medical breakthroughs. Animals are used to test many different substances or products for either medical or cosmetic purposes.…

Why is it socially acceptable to test on animals and not test on humans themselves? People test anything from cosmetics to possibly life changing medicine on sentient beings. We are forcing these poor creatures to put their life on the line for our benefit. If we want to test to see if a certain make up tool or medicine will harm us, humans should be the ones to go through the testing themselves. Animal testing is unethical, inhumane, harmful, and down right disturbing.…

Temple Grandin stated “I think using animals for food is an ethical thing to do but we’ve got to do it right. We’ve got to give those animals a decent life and we’ve got to give them painless death. We owe the animals respect. ”One way the animals are used in our life is like as pet many humans beings have many of animals as their pet they love them like they are supposed to be loved .They are not in this world for people to harm them. The second way is like children some people can’t have kids, so when a baby puppy or a kitten or any kind of animal is born they would keep them until the animals die or the person that is taking care of them dies then they would give it to the animal shelter when animals are taken care for nicely the animals will love the owner that is how some humans use the animals like.…

Animal testing has been used in the advancement of medicine, cosmetics and household products since the 19th century. Since that time there have been more than 100 million animal deaths each year and millions more are commonly subjected to force feeding, prolonged periods of physical restraint, neck breaking and decapitation due to animal experimentations (PETA 3). Even after recognition that animal testing seldom provides accurate results in human beings, the torture and speciesism continues. The suffering of animals caused by biomedical and cosmetic research can not be morally justified. We as moral agents have an obligation to protect and reduce harm to all sentient beings.…

The testing of animals is overall is bad ethics and poor science. In a booklet by Peta, they explain the difference between the use of animals verses if humans would be used, how the animal is in pain, examples of cruelty displayed, research conducted, non animal methods, and a conclusion to what you can do to help the cause. This pamphlet explains that the role animals play in this conducted research is not their choice. Animals should not be put into pointless suffering to test a product for a human. I think animal testing is bad science because there are alternative ways to test products without risking the suffering of animals; in addition, animals cannot speak for themselves and therefore should not be put through experiments to test the safety and effectiveness of products.…

Animals are tested on for product research worldwide for a wide range of things, such as medicines and cosmetic products. Both private facilities and government laboratories conduct this sort of experimentation, and there are few laws to stop these tests or protect the animals. Most of the animals however, are killed during or after the testing. Everyone wants the sense of security when using a new product of any kind that it will be safe, but there has always been that question of whether animal testing is right or wrong.…

The importance of ethics in any given person’s day-to-day life is major, yet many do not realize this or even consciously think about it. The unique values everyone holds are used on the daily to make decisions ranging from donating change to a homeless man, to returning a lost, wallet, to being honest at work. Many of the ethical decisions made on an everyday basis happen without a second thought, since there is a general knowing between right and wrong. However, many people do not seem to realize how far these ethics can stretch in daily living. Most people always try to choose and do the right thing, but they still use or purchase products tested on animals.…

In discussions of animal testing, one controversial issue has been whether animals can feel emotions as humans do, and furthermore, if they can then is the use of animals in research morally wrong? On the one hand, scientists that use animals as test subjects, such as Helosia Sabin and her late husband, argue that it is crucial for any medical progress because much testing is required before releasing a new drug into the public. On the other hand, people like Peggy Carlson, a scientist herself, and Peter Singer, a philosopher and bioethicist, contend that animal testing is irrelevant since an animal’s genetic makeup differs greatly from a human’s and the practice is unjust since animals suffer. My own view is that Carlson and Singer are correct since animals do have feelings and are capable of suffering similar to the way humans do; therefore, animal testing is cruel as well as unnecessary considering all of the animals used are not biologically similar enough to humans to produce accurate results in research.…
