All middle and High schools should start the educational day later to allow the adequate amount of sleep for America’s teenage youth. Too many schools across the country begin the day before student minds are awake, alert, and ready to successfully take on the day. Students from the sixth to twelfth grade are currently attending school before their brains have had time to prepare for the day. This makes everything they do, including simple everyday tasks, far more of a challenge than it typically should be. Oftentimes, teenagers, as well as society as a whole, put sleep on the backburner.…

They have phones witch tend to make them stay up all night. Teenagers chat with their friends or even watch something on their phone. When teens tend not to get eight to ten hours of sleep it could create huge problems.…

It is an ongoing argument on whether high school students should arrive at schools later to help the teens who are sleep deprived, depressed and have serious mood swings. This is inconvenient for a number of reasons. Parents cannot get their children to school on time if the school time is changed, and it interrupts the teens schedules who are already accustomed to the 7:30 time scheduling. In the passage “ High schools starting later to help sleepy teens” by: Michelle Trudeau it states that later school times are helping the teens be more alert in class, they have less depression issues and the parents have less problems than before due to their emotions being more regulated.…

Picture a classroom where students are not paying attention, tuning out the teacher and falling asleep. Not only are these kids losing precious opportunities to learn and expand their knowledge, they are failing to take chances that would help them achieve their future goals. Is this how a flourishing classroom should look like? Unfortunately, this is what happens every day in many schools all around the United States because kids are going to school drowsy and restless. Therefore, I believe schools should start later in the morning.…

This often affects how attentive kids are when they get to school and can have a negative impact on the rest of their day. When students are tired they often don't take in the information they would otherwise pick up with an adequate amount of sleep. Starting classes at middle school and high schools no earlier than 8:30 a.m. would help teens arrive alert, healthy and ready to learn, U.S. sleep medicine specialists say (Lehman, 2017). Schools should start later to ensure the success of its students.…

First of all, when a middle school student does not get enough sleep their grades could suffer. Starting school later means students would get more sleep. Sleep is a key part in academics because when a middle school student is very well rested, they get mostly “A’s and B’s” because they are not sleepy. Although the students who abuse the time change of school would be much more tired. Which could lead to worse grades.…

And even if they do change the school start time, the students might change their sleep schedule to an even later one, knowing that school will start later in the day. You might say that, “Another reason why some students can’t get enough sleep is because of homework that they need to finish.” I say that this argument is invalid, because if the school start time will be delayed, then the school end time will also be delayed, and you’ll still get the same amount of hours you’ll have between when school stops and when school starts again the next day. It doesn’t change anything. To sum it up, I think that middle and high school days should not start later.…
