These days in society a college education is no longer a choice or privilege like it used to be in the past, but instead an essential part of life these days. We are raised to believe that one needs higher education in order to succeed in life. I believe that everyone should attend at least a minimum of two years of college.

The main reason why most people go to college is not because they want to but because they have to. All throughout high school you 're pressured by your guidance counselors and parents to go to college because it is right path to take in life. Maybe not everyone is meant to go to college and they might have a different calling in life. There are people who have never been to college and are doing way better than people who actually received their master 's or doctoral degree. Going to college is esteemed and respected pretty much anywhere in the world. Most people go to college only for the money they’ll be getting paid or the title of being a college graduate. For some it gives them the chance to get away from home and become independent. It is basically put in our minds that in order to be a productive member of society, you should have some type of college education most likely at a four year university.

Everyone has their own path in life and although education is very important, you do not always need a university to help you get where you want to be. To argue that every American should go to college is a brave statement. If every American graduated from college what would that mean exactly? Not everyone needs a degree nor should they believe one is necessary in order to have a bright future.…

There are many reasons why a person may attend college. Some go for the opportunity to get employment; that through their hard work and money spent, they will end up in a high-paying field that will help repay their debts. In a different group, there are those who go to obtain a higher level knowledge, to better understand the world they live in and learn how to communicate with people that they would normally never would. Both of these ideas are beneficial in their own ways, but the consistent question that is brought up is not only how to fund the often-pricey endeavor that college is, but also how to obtain success once people leave college. In short, this debate comes down to a simple question; “Is College Worth It?”…

I’ve always been a firm believer that college is what you make out of it. Me being 18 and just starting college I finally see how the world really is, it’s as if a cup of hot water had been thrown in my direction randomly, in other words I wasn’t ready. High school was a cake walk for everyone including myself simply because there wasn’t a huge amount of money over your head after you got your diploma. Just the thought of having a debt makes me cringe and it pushes me to use the time and the opportunity I have much smarter. College is one big investment in yourself and it makes me believe that I can accomplish more than I thought I could just a few months ago. But on the other hand there are people who are fed with a silver spoon and can fool off if they just felt like It because if all goes wrong there’s a nice family business that can support them for the rest of their lives, I know it sounds very crucial but it is all very much true.…

With that being said, let’s jump right into the mix of things and talk about one of the main reasons why I believe going to college serves as an advantageous opportunity. College helps us prepare for any envisioned careers we seek. We need the preparation to be success in any line of work. In an article I found “Live and Learn: Why We Have College” by author Louis Menand. He gives his audience three different theories to choose from on why we “have college”. Theory 1, was that college sorts the “smart” from the “others”. Theory 2, is that college culturizes us. And theory 3, college trains us for specialized work and I found myself agreeing with his third theory 100%. Menand says, “The theory that fits their situation—Theory 3—is that advanced economies demand specialized knowledge and skills, and, since high school is aimed at the general learner, college is where people can be taught what they need in order to enter a vocation.” (Menand 7). College help us become familiarized and aware of the career…

It is argued whether getting a higher education provides a person more economic opportunity or not. Evidently as the years go on, employers are looking for people who have some type of college degree. Many claim not all students are fit to pursue a college degree and still can become successful without one. They may even say that some college graduates are either unemployed or underemployed while in debt. Although this is true, obtaining a higher education does allow a person to have better employment opportunities in comparison to those who do not. Though the college graduate employment rate is a bit high, even more so is the lower education rate. A college degree also provides several benefits such as: the ability to be productive members…
