The dash (-) between the ten years could be a representation of those still trying to get back on their feet along with those suffering that the news media and government officials failed to tell to the country. The beginning song of the film ‘Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans” stuck with me throughout the entirety of the film. People who live in the South love where they live and seeing them watch their lives change within such little time was traumatic. It was more devastating to watch those people, especially those living in the ninth ward, who were alive calling 911 and there was no answer. The most upsetting fact about the disaster in itself was that if the government officials were not spending money on other projects and fixed the levees this could have been prevented. Reviewing the statics of black women compared to white women in poverty before and after Hurricane Katrina were unreal. While reading the fact sheets, I had to go back and reread it to make sure I was not misreading anything. This not only showed the physical damage but the mental damage on the women. They lost everything from their house to their voice in trying to speak up because there were few people around who cared to listen for their cry for
