In the article, the author explained that "Republicans and Democrats- think its common sense to require gun owners to surrender their firearms upon a first arrest for domestic violence or a court-ordered protecting fearful parents." Meaning that the officials do not see why all states are not implementing this procedure to these situations. They feel that it creates more of a safety precaution to the situation to prevent the shootings from happening. Personally, it would be the smartest thing to do, because you do not know if the suspect is going to retaliate or not. Another scenario is to suspend the license of the suspect after the incident. By doing both of these methods it would take to decrease the number of I.P.V murder cases, the offenders would think twice before doing any crime because of the precautions.
