One of the countries that lots of people came from was China. The number of Chinese on the goldfields grew quickly from 4000 in 1854 to 50000 in 1860. The goldfields were overrun with Chinese and everyone else hated it, they soon started to rebel against the Chinese and make their lives difficult.
