California Gold Rush was the mass migration that brought in people from all over the world. Even people from the east migrated to the west in search of the gold. The large population allowed them to qualify for statehood in 1850. The gold rush was also a opportunity to start a new business for many people. California went from a small populated territory when the Mexicans signed the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo to a high population that would consider them a state. California Star Newspaper was a delivery mail service that connected California to Mississippi.
Person One James W. Marshall he lived in New Jersey then moved to California on 1848.
James played the most important role in the gold rush. He found the first piece of gold in Sutter’s Mill the gold rush. The gold rush wouldn’t have happened if he didn’t tell anyone about the gold.James was an American sawmill operator and carpenter and was hired to build the Sutter’s Mill. The mill was never built because the workers all left to find gold. James left the area of California but returned in 1857-1860s to open a vineyard shop but ended up failing because of the high taxes. Neither James or Sutter profited from the Gold Rush.
