What Makes An Effective Group Leader?

In every work environment an effective group leader is needed to ensure that the group remains content and proactive to successfully achieve each of the group’s common goals. An effective group leader is an individual who incorporates interpersonal communication skills such as listening, working in teams, planning meetings, and making oral presentations to each member throughout the organization. By using these four interpersonal communication skills, the group leader can develop methods to eliminate communication conflict throughout the workplace and also promote effective communication to each member throughout the group. The use of interpersonal communication skills throughout a group is a crucial attribute that molds an individual into an effective leader, and without those skills the group’s effectiveness would plummet.

By introducing the interpersonal communication skills to their group, the leader will not only promote their own success but it will also empower members of the group to become more productive and strive for greater success as well. Being in an environment where your group leader listens, encourages, and respects your opinions is a very positive group environment in which every person would like to be in. In that type of situations, the member feels appreciated for their work and in turn it makes them respect their group leader even more and makes them want to work harder for them. The team work, empowerment, and positive communication skills that stems from a leaders use of interpersonal communication skills shows the impact that every effective group leader can have on their group as well as the importance that interpersonal communication skills can have while molding an effective group
