Through striving to learn more of what it means for Christ to truly be preeminent in life, Christians are called to consider how that affects our health. The result of Christ’s preeminence can be seen when applying it to the understanding that we are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), and we have a responsibility as image bearers to honor God with how we maintain our image. The Bible clarifies for believers how one is to honor God with our bodies through choices that involve nutrition, time management, and other physical and mental aspects of wellness. As image bearers, we have the responsibility to honor our Creator through respecting our bodies in a manner that affects our physical health. 1 Corinthians 10:31 reads, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” The Bible explains that the choices we make need to be done in a manner that prioritizes being honorable to God. This principle affects our diets and encourages believers to be conscious of nutrient intake and aware of what is consumed, and how it affects the body negatively or positively. The importance of taking care of our bodies is again seen in Romans 12:1-2, “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind he will find acceptable.” Paul is stressing to believers that we need to take care of our bodies in a way that God finds holy and pleasing, not in…
