Every society is different for example the giver in our society. In our own society, we value freedom above all else. Because of this, Our rules and order allows us to choose our own path in life, along with being whoever we want to be. In the book the giver their society is run by every body being sameness. Unlike their society our society by the people. Rather than being run by a president who was elected by the people, the society of the giver is run by a group of people who calls himself the chief elder. The chief elders assign jobs to the people and make rules to make people same . For example in The giver "Each family unit is only allowed to have two children one male and one female" (pg.8).
