To begin with when you conform you have no freedom of choice. In the Giver people have no choice on what to name your child, choose your job, and choose your spouse. In the Giver it stated, “Like the Matching of Spouses and the Naming and Placement of new children, the Assignments were scrupulously through by the Committee of Elders.” In our world in India, Pakistan, Japan, China, Israel, and other countries still have arranged marriages which are the same things they have in the Giver.
