Nordstrom has many qualities that distinguish it from the average retailer, or department emporium. However, it is important to have an effective positioning strategy for the business to succeed. The store’s positioning strategy is clearly that of medium to high prices, for high quality and value. This is targeted to the middle to upper class men and women. Nordstrom attains its target market for multifarious reasons. Firstly, the store has an atmosphere of elegance. The store segments its clothes by designer rather than type of clothing, already creating a sense of sophistication. Most retailers segment the clothing by gender, age group, and style. Another sumptuous addition, to Nordstrom, is their opulent café. After entering the store, usually near the back, will be the Nordstrom café.
