Roman Emperor Essay
Nero was born on December 15, 37 A.D. He was the son of Gnaeus Ahenobarbus and Agrippina. Agrippina was the great granddaughter of the emperor Augustus. Nero was educated traditionally in Greek, philosophy and rhetoric by the philosopher named Senca. When Ahenobarbus died in 48 A.D. Agrippina married her uncle who was the emperor Claudius. Agrippina persuaded Claudius to name Nero as his sucessor than his own son Britannicus. Agrippina also persuaded Claudius to offer his daughter, Octavia as Nero's wife. Nero and Octavia ended up getting married in 50 A.D. in which Octavia was Nero's first love in his life time.
The major turning point in Nero's life is when he raised up to becoming the emperor of Rome. Later, Claudius died in 54 A.D. which shocked Rome. People were very sceptical about emperor Claudius's death though. It was widely …show more content…
There was a slight problem with Nero's project. Nero needed more money to support the Domus Aurea project. So what Nero did was raise the taxes and took money from the temples around the Roman Empire. The policies resulted in the Pisonion conspericy which was lead by Gauis Piso and a couple of other mentors. They planned to assassinate Nero. Nero knew of this and finally decided to accept his fate so he committed suicide.
Nero first of ordered the burning of Rome. Then Nero blamed the burning of Rome on the christains so he would not have to take the blame for it at all. This lead to a massive slaughter of Christians around Rome. This went as far as public executions, be headings, hangings, and torture. The Christains were also brutally murdered by serving as human torches.
