What Does The Blue Zone Lifestyle Changes? Essay

In the video, “How to Live 100+,” Dan Buettner claims to have found a formula for longevity. He teamed up with National Geographic and the National Institute on Aging to find areas where people were living longer than the national average. These places are called Blue Zones and are located all around the world. People are living such long lives in these Blue Zones because they have made simple lifestyle changes. In America, the odds of someone living to be 100 years old are very slim because Americans have not fully embraced these types of lifestyle changes. America can easily adopt some of the Blue Zone lifestyle changes such as including physical activity throughout the day, but will struggle to adopt others such as changing our eating habits and not socializing with over-weight friends.
My community of Stafford, Virginia, is considered one of the richest counties in the United States with the majority of households having two working parents. With this type of lifestyle, parents arrive home late and dinners are typically not cooked from scratch, but rather, are picked up on the way home or thrown together quickly. Households with children must deal with even more issues such as after school activities, daily homework, sporting events, and other social events which contributes to an unhealthy lifestyle due to lack of time. However, in my opinion, my community can adopt at least some of the habits practiced by Blue Zones, such as including physical activity…
