“From the dawn of mankind, metals have fascinated man in many ways. From simple items found in the fire to advances in forming metals into trinkets, jewels, to weapons.” (A History of Welding). Welding is a profession that has been around since the dawn of the use of metals. The art of welding has changed the way we make things, and how we are able to build massive structures that stand taller than mountains. Well, this art form is called welding, and I believe it would suit me very well as a profession. Welding can trace its historic beginnings to ancient times. The welder would have to find out what is the problem, and then assess on what he will have to do. A welder would have irregular hours, usually getting 40+ hours a week. The welder career has many ups and downs for business, depending on if people are needing things to be welder. The welding workplace is usually taking place in a big shop where you are in a controlled environment and get things done in a more suitable environment; however, there is also times where you may have to go out on the job site and weld in very hard positions. Being a welder is very nice usually you get to work at your own pace and not having to be told what to do by a boss. You are usually on your own when you are a welder but there are some jobs out there that they hire welders. Polaris has a lot of robotic welding but there are some positions for welding where the robot can’t get to. One thing wonderful about where we live is that there are lakes and when there are lakes there are boats that need aluminum hoists so that they are lighter. Kuhlman welding is a local welding business that is on the east side of east lake. They weld their own hoists. So does Clary, and Danbom. As you can see there are plenty of local welding jobs in the Iowa Great Lakes.There is also very high paying jobs up to 250 dollars an hour and that is underwater welding. It is a very fun thing to do, and to get paid to do it, would be even better. Welding isn’t an easy task to do, some can’t do it, while other are very good at it. To be successful at welding, I believe you would need to work at or own a welding shop and be very good at it, and when you retire, to look back at it and enjoy all those years that you were a welder. Welding is a passion to some, and to anyone it might not be a passion that you would think of. Passions are doing what you love, and if you love to weld, and get paid for it, then it would be an awesome passion. You learn some great values from welding; some of which would just being handy to fix different things. You can learn honesty because you need to be honest with your customers about what the price is going to be. I think that this lifestyle could fit my wants and needs because it is well paying job and I think I will flourish in
