Walking into Hemlock Creek Elementary School, I get a feeling that I do not feel at any other school. I was able to attend this school the first two years after it was built. A great number of memories have been made here by the kids heading to school. The children are kind and greet you every day. During the summer, a lot of additions were being made to this somewhat new school by Miron Construction. They were adding a new gym and many new classrooms because the school was expanding quickly. It previously stood in a field surrounded by dirt, however, it is now surrounded by new homes. Near the parking lot is a fountain that continually runs in the fall and spring. The homes nearby have or will soon have children that hop on their bikes to ride to school.
The summer of 2016, Mr. K, the assistant principal, assigned me to work ‘Getting Ready for Kindergarten,’ a class to prepare kids going into kindergarten the next school year. Summer school lasted 15 days. This year it started the second week in June and ended before July 1st. For the third year in a row, I was responsible helping out in the classrooms to teach future kindergarteners different areas of school and help with social interaction skills. When I walked into school, I was greeted with a “good morning” from the nicest ladies in the school office. One lady was there when I went to school.
