Personal Narrative: A Day At Hemlock Creek Elementary School

Improved Essays
Walking into Hemlock Creek Elementary School, I get a feeling that I do not feel at any other school. I was able to attend this school the first two years after it was built. A great number of memories have been made here by the kids heading to school. The children are kind and greet you every day. During the summer, a lot of additions were being made to this somewhat new school by Miron Construction. They were adding a new gym and many new classrooms because the school was expanding quickly. It previously stood in a field surrounded by dirt, however, it is now surrounded by new homes. Near the parking lot is a fountain that continually runs in the fall and spring. The homes nearby have or will soon have children that hop on their bikes …show more content…
Lynn,” a soft voice said every morning as Wyatt gave Mrs. Lynn, the kindergarten teacher, a hug. Wyatt is a short and skinny boy with his head always hanging down. He has a disability where his vision is not the best and was not connected properly in his brain. It took Wyatt a longer time to process directions and his work needed to be enlarged. A smile never left Wyatt’s face when he was at school. His manners were better than most kindergarteners and was nice to everyone. Wyatt was as sweet as cherry pie, but not many of the children knew because they all looked at him as being different.
Mrs. B, Wyatt’s aid from 4K, was with him every day as they traveled to classrooms. Mrs. B, a middle aged women, tall and thin, was always so patient, calm and knew exactly how to handle Wyatt. She treated Wyatt how she would treat any other student. He was treated just like the rest of the children, like he wasn’t different at all.
As most children arrived each morning, they started to play. They grabbed their nametags and headed for the toys. Wyatt arrived, worked on his letters with Mrs. B, and then played. Mrs. Lynn has a pink spiky ball that Wyatt loved. Every morning after doing his letters, he would ask me, “Miss Abby, can we play catch

It was 5:15 in the morning, and my mother had just finished giving birth to a healthy, 7 pound, baby girl—me. After I was born, my mother had to fend me off from dozens of nurses, who all wanted to hold me and take a look at me. My mother said that I was the chubbiest and cutest baby she had ever seen. My father and mother both cried tears of joy right after I was born. Apparently, I was the only girl to have been born in that hospital that whole night/morning.…

This story has quite a surprising ending to it. After all, one can only imagine Laurie’s mother’s shock when, after a PTA meeting, Laurie’s teacher told her that there was no one named Charles in the…

From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

Amanda Perring carefully stepped off the bright yellow school bus onto the clean, asphalt driveway leading to her parent’s garage. Her house was a classic, one story suburb on the outskirts of Los Angeles, located in middle class neighborhood where no one had to worry about money but there wasn't much extra to spend. Her mother and father were both respected doctors and were almost never home when Amanda was. Every day on the bus, she would sit at the very back with no one else, completely silent the entire way home, most often reading a book. When she had first moved to her new school a few years ago, Amanda had been the easiest kid to pick on with her high grades and care about school.…

“Don’t forget, the paper is due next Wednesday!” My 8th period teacher, Mrs. Oakford told to my class and I as we streamed out of the cramped classroom on a Friday. We couldn’t wait to bust out of the schools doors and claim our prize of a short freedom for surviving another busy, exhausting, and slow week of middle school. I rushed to my locker, grabbed everything I would need for the homework due Monday, threw it in my bag and headed down the hall collecting my friends to walk to town to start what I would hope would be a slow but fun weekend off The weekend went quicker than I wished and before I knew it, it was late Sunday night and I still hadn’t done my homework, I realized this and got to work.…

I was afraid to sharpen a pencil in second grade. My most vivid elementary school memories spring from instances when I was being reprimanded by an adult for doing something wrong. I did everything in my power to avoid those dreadful moments, but they still presented themselves on occasion. Even now I feel a pit in my stomach when I recall the way I felt during those times, regardless of the fact that almost all of them would easily roll off my back if they occurred today.…
