Tommy is an imaginative and observant boy In 4th grade whose class gets a substitute teacher when their teacher Mr. Hibler gets sick.Then they get mrs. Farenski but when she comes in tommy notices many things about her : like the blue tint in her glasses,marionette lines on her jaw,and how every day she has a new hair style. Unlike other substitute teachers who would keep the same hairstyle very day and follow the teacher's plans but instead ms. farenski tells weird stories.
like first she tells them that 6 times 1l = 68. then at social studies she told them that pyramids had cosmic powers.But, every time one of tommy’s classmates says she’s wrong he tries to defend her because he likes her as a teacher because she tells lots of weird and interesting stories instead of being one of those boring substitute teachers that don’t tell stories and do everything on the lesson plan .he also defends her because he lives in a pretty boring town and nothing interesting ever happens. …show more content…
F we can tell that he doesn’t like getting proved wrong. like when wayne razmer told on her. tommy says how dare you and he punches him in the stomach. then he said that she was always right that he was just a little chicken. Also when she talks about the gryphon and he makes up the story about the humster. over all, tommy defends mrs. f because he doesn’t like being proved wrong and because he lives in a boring town, and goes to a boring school where nothing interesting ever happens. but mrs. f was the only exciting thing to come to their
