Teamwork is the process of working and collaborating in a group in order to achieve goals. Members of the group work together using and combining their individual skills to complete tasks. Some teams confront difficulties to perform and this could occur because of different raisons such as communication, behaviour, attitudes or beliefs. There are different theories that explain the team development and how can a team reach the performing stage. Tuckman model has become the most referred to and the most recognized in organizational literature (Miller, 2013). This essay will focus on Tuckman model and its stages in understanding team dynamic. The first stage of Tuckman model is called forming. At this point the team is created and has to be organised. Its norms are not established yet. Individuals of the team do not know what is expected from them or what they are supposed to do. They usually look to the leader looking for guidance. It is characterised by competition and conflict, it is the most uncomfortable phase of the group's life, and it is probably the most important insight that Tuckman model brings to understanding group dynamics. Tuckman (1965) argued that group members become hostile toward one another during this phase. At the storming stage the level of competition is high. Some People push for position and power, while others remain silent. Throughout this period Members have to put aside their attitudes, feelings and beliefs in order ease the interaction and work progress. In businesses, teams might be storming during months, even years. And after that, comes the third stage, which is the norming stage. During this step of the team development, the team becomes creative, motivated, and confident. The trust and appreciation are built between the members.in consequence, success occur.
