Tremco/WTI Team: Case Study

Improved Essays
Greetings WTI Team. I cannot begin to express to you the level of excitement I have about the strides we’re making with Safety in the Tremco/WTI organization.

Our Safety Department have made some vast changes and advancements with more to come. We’ve regionalized our safety oversight and support with more field safety presence. Steve Jones and Tony Kotnik are our Western and Eastern Field Safety Managers, respectively. Another significant part of our progress is our tremendous increase of OSHA 10 hr. Safety Education. Our new training policy indicates that all Roofing employees are to receive a “live” OSHA 10 hr. course within one month of employment. This new course of action has moved the roofing organization to nearly 100% of applicable employees being OSHA trained. FYI the next scheduled trainings are:

Buffalo – 9/20 & 21
Seattle – 9/27 & 28
Cleveland/Beachwood – 10/3&4
Hawaii – 10/11 & 12

Allow me highlight one item in particular: The Tremco Safety Pocket Card. The Safety Department designed the four-sided card to be easily carried in your pockets, and I urge you all to keep them with you for quick note of The Tremco Incident Notification Process; Tremco Cardinal Safety Policies; and our Basic PPE Requirements for all Tremco/WTI Projects. It’s all vital information and the presentation can also show our clients our commitment to our safety

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by Congress under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to ensure workers were provided with safe and healthy working conditions. Congress found that personal injuries and illnesses were more frequent in work related situations, which caused a loss in production, a decrease in wages, elevated medical expenses, and substantial disability compensation payments. In order to prevent personal injuries or illnesses in the work place, standards were established under the Act, which were taught to employers and employees through trainings and outreach. These standards provided workplace health and safety regulations to limit/prevent an employee’s exposure to possible hazardous situations/environments. In particular, Part 1910 covers Occupational Safety and Health Standards, which can range from hand protection to requirements for fixed ladders.…
