In the military, it is something that is always present in the back of one’s mind. Especially with the world as it is today, your loved one doesn’t have to be deployed to be in harm’s way. It is something we don’t like to talk much about, we know that anything is possible…we plan for the worse and hope and pray for the best.
Endings are something that brings excitement and fear. I love the quote that the text uses, “there is something in the pangs of change. More than the heart can bear. Unhappiness

Band of Brothers How do you spend your time outside of work and school? I am willing to bet some of that free time is spent with other people you would consider friends and family. Possibly unknown to you, most of these activities you enjoy can be classified as sub-territories, specifically tribal territories, according to Desmond Morris’s writing “Territorial Behavior”. Some examples you may be familiar with are book clubs, political parties, biker gangs, gun clubs, fraternities or sororities, and so on. Desmond Morris’s research and expertise in animal and human behavior confirm the fact that almost all of us partake in these sub-groups and feel a sense of allegiance with which ever group we are a part of.…

In Margaret Atwood’s “Happy Endings” the language and choice of scenario allow the reader to infer this author is rather pessimistic when it comes to relationships, along with the interaction that a reader has when reading about a love story. In the very beginning a sweet and innocent situation is talked about, however she quickly advances to a scenario that is much less pleasant and more on the side of depressing and dark. The author continues to give examples that fall into this pattern having encounters with infidelity, death, and loss. One suicide, a triple homicide, a natural disaster, and a bad health condition, leave the reader with a rather dreary set of emotions towards the way endings come about in love and in stories. She continues…

Life has not always played out the way I thought it would, not all my dreams have come true, some of the people I once cherished have moved from this world to the next, some of the choices I have been regrettable and for that, I have paid the price. The days spent with my best friend talking about everything and nothing will always keep him in my heart; losing my friend was something I never thought would happen, but I guess that is just the price of war. Although he has been gone for years now, sometimes it seems like the…
