Life has not always played out the way I thought it would, not all my dreams have come true, some of the people I once cherished have moved from this world to the next, some of the choices I have been regrettable and for that, I have paid the price. The days spent with my best friend talking about everything and nothing will always keep him in my heart; losing my friend was something I never thought would happen, but I guess that is just the price of war. The car accident cost me my freedom, but also made me realize that it was time become sober. I will always regret the bridges and friendships burned to the ground by hate and jealousy, and pushing those close to me away out of fear of being hurt. In the recent years, I have discovered my passion for photography; a passion for which I have turned into a successful and thriving business. Working with the local legion was has brought clarity to my life; I have a purpose and a place in which others understand me, where I can be myself, and my experience makes a difference in the lives of others. I can't wait to see my children grow and live out their own “ wild and precious life”; to graduate college, get married, and have children of their

Introduction and Literature Review In this lab report, I will compare the experience of soldiers during World War I and the Afghanistan war and the similarities and differences of their experiences on the front line. On the one hand, World War 1 is an international war which occurred between 1914 and 1918 where the Central Powers ,Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey, fight the Allies, France, Great Britain, Italy, Japan, and United States in 1917. This war ends with the victory of the Allies over the Central Power. The war “was virtually unprecedented in the slaughter, carnage, and destruction it caused.”…

In my life I have had many accomplishments. The biggest one I've had was my Quinceañera. I remember being 11 years old and seeing my sister in her dress, with her crown and shoes, and ever since that day I was counting down the years for my 15. I had in mind everyone I wanted as my damas and chambelanes, I had an inkling of how I wanted certain things to look like. Never did I imagine moving to Broward, and later Fort Pierce.…

Remember Think of it this way; if you were going to fight in the war, leaving your mom and dad in the safety of their home, then you end up standing in the middle of the battlefield. Turning into one of the many dead bodies that are all over the place. Your life flashes before your eyes as you see a fast, terrifying bullet coming right at you, then time stops. And you’re dead as well. Only a day or two passes before your parents get the news that their son/daughter will not be coming home.…

“On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free.” -Dan Lipinski `With so much business in life these days, it is common to forget that our own everyday life is much different than that of those out fighting for our country. We often forget that not everyone in this country gets to see their families everyday and that often, our service men and women go weeks, even months, without seeing their loved ones, and more often than not, they miss birthdays, anniversaries, and even holidays, due to their commitment to keep this country free.…

I choose to read this letter because it appealed to me because of soldier’s feeling toward the war. He started his letter to his wife, Roberta, by stating “Today is probably the worst day I have ever lived in my entire, short life” and when he continues writing it shows how depressed and questions his faith along his time in the Vietnam “I keep asking myself if there is a God, then how the hell come young men with so much to live for have to die.” One of the hardest things that soldiers experienced during war was losing their friends during war. Stanley describes that this is his worst day in his entire life, because he lost his best friend and , even worst, he was only twenty two years old and was having his R&R (rest and recuperation) on the first of June to meet his wife in Hawaii, so a week before he sees his wife. Stanley was two years older than his best friend and he hopes, but he’s unsure of seeing his wife again “You know, I can still feel his presence as I write this letter and hope that I am able to survive and leave this far behind me..”…

The struggle to maintain hope is often an unavoidable effect of war. Elie Wiesel incorporates this theme in his novel Night by writing,” One more stab to the heart, one more reason to hate, one less reason to live. ”(Wiesel 66) Elie’s quote defines the theme of struggling to keep your head up, and the struggle to have hope. When Elie says,” One less reason to live...” he is explaining that after the events that occurred in the past, or during the war show how those events affect war heroes and give a reason to lose hope.…

What defines a person? Life has many ups and downs, positives and negatives, and unfortunately my early life had a few more negatives as opposed to positives. The biggest negative in my life was being bullied at a young age and the struggle to overcome it. Being bullied showed me that I can prove everyone wrong and no one person or persons opinion can or should define me and my future no matter the pain it caused. The early years were rough with minor name calling, but the real heavy hitters came at about 4th grade and just escalated until the end of 6th grade.…
