How do you spend your time outside of work and school? I am willing to bet some of that free time is spent with other people you would consider friends and family. Possibly unknown to you, most of these activities you enjoy can be classified as sub-territories, specifically tribal territories, according to Desmond Morris’s writing “Territorial Behavior”. Some examples you may be familiar with are book clubs, political parties, biker gangs, gun clubs, fraternities or sororities, and so on. Desmond Morris’s research and expertise in animal and human behavior confirm the fact that almost all of us partake in these sub-groups and feel a sense of allegiance with which ever group we are a part of. I will justify this statement with an example of a sub-group from my personal life that I am part of.
