Landowners needed some cheap labor, so Indentured servants was born to help provide cheap labor for landowners. Indentured servants were another form of slave but it was limit time and the reason behind indentured servant to help people get to the America if they couldn’t afford the trip, “One half to two thirds of the immigrants who came to the American colonies arrived as indentured servants”( PBS.org). As the demand for labor grow so did indenture servant which eventually the settlers turn to Africans for labor. The birth slave was created, the slave population in the New World had double for all the European country, “Between 1700 and 1775 an estimated 278,400 Africans reach the original thirteen colonies that became the United States” (immigrationtounitedstates.org). Africans was the strongest races of people that was able to handle the harsh labor on the sugar plantation and the tobacco fields. Indians first slaves on the plantation but they were wipe out by settlers for land or diseases kill most of
