Massacre at mystic (contextualization) The Massacre at Mystic was the first major battle between the Native Americans and the Europeans. The context of this event shows how the Europeans and the Native Americans fought over the land that would soon become America. This fighting took place on a massive scale, but the first example of this brutality was the Massacre at Mystic. The colonization of the New World saw an unprecedented migration of people, known as the “Great Migration”. Many European countries wanted to claim to some of the new world, so they encouraged people to leave their old lives behind and live in the colonies. Both wars were fought in the name of unity,the Revolutionary war was fought for the unity of the colonies, and the Civil War was fought for the preservation of the Union. The wars were both fought on American soil. And the final similarity is that both wars were relatively short lasting less than 10 years (The civil war was between 1861 and 1865).
There are also many key differences between the wars. During the Revolutionary wars there were leaders from Great Britain and France fighting with the American leaders, during the Civil War only American leaders fought. The locations of these wars are also different, the Civil War took place mainly in the southern United states, while the Revolutionary War was fought throughout the colonies.
