Three personal strategies that I will use to improve my time and stress management are the use of a schedule, keep track of time, and healthy choices. First of all the use of a schedule will aid in keeping me accountable and be a useful tool to compare my goals to. I have a checklist application on my phone. It is a simple application called checklist+ that I use to type out my daily goals and check them off as I accomplish them. By using this application I can monitor my progress as my smaller goals will help me achieve long term goals as well. If my daily checklist is to put in 3 ½ hours of study a day and I accomplish it, then I know I am on target to getting my weekly assignments finished. Over the range …show more content…
I am using a simple timer to gage intervals of time to accomplish goals. Since studying isn’t the only job I have, I have to try and fit in a lot of other things into my day such as work related tasks like accepting new jobs and managing inventory, house related tasks such as laundry, errands such as grocery shopping and taking care of myself as well. It helps to have a timer to not only remind me that time is up, but to gage whether or not, I can get something done before the timer goes off. A timer is a motivational tool that keeps me from becoming distracted or spending too much time in one place. As illustrated by Erin Doland at unclutter.com in the article Using Timers to Improve Productivity states, “Thankfully, there are timers to help you (and me) stay focused and complete tasks — specifically the not-so-fun ones and the ones that have to get done — in reasonable amounts of time.” (April 12, 2012). I agree with Erin. Timers are a great tool to use and one that I plan on using a lot as I can get distracted easily. In addition, It is also important to schedule in small breaks, such as time for a cup of coffee or tea or a chance to sit down since a good portion of my day is spent moving about. Small breaks are essential at keeping motivation flowing, much like the larger incentives i mentioned before as they make my focused effort more productive and help me stay out of burn out mode.
