Teachers working in the field of Early Childhood Education need to be prepared to deal with all aspects of children. We must realize the importance of parents as the first and primary educator of their children. We must also need skills in working with parents and helping them to meet the needs of the family. We must understand the importance of parent involvement, how to work together with families, and types of approaches to take in practicing effective communication with families.
Family is a gift of God. God creates families and send children to families as a blessing to take care of them. Through raising and nurturing children, we learn more about God. According to Romans 8:28, “In all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Through loving relationships, Children learn to love their families, environment and God. Working with families allows the teacher to be a part of blessing to raise children. Families and teachers work together to build a community that support children’s growth. There is no perfect family; most family is broken in some ways. As a teacher, I need to accept the family just the way they are. I should not judge or make assumption about the families based on children’s behaviors.
In order to develop the best educational programs for children, we need to understand their diverse background including family structures, socioeconomic classes and languages. These students bring a wide variety of…
