The self-assessment test that I took this week was designed for me to get a general idea of what areas I feel strongest in and what areas I feel need work. (Bethel University, 2014) I feel that this assessment test was a good idea for me. This test made me think about skills and characteristics that I would have not thought of as having an effect on my success otherwise. I chose my ratings very honestly, and I see that I need to work on many things in order to ensure my success in this program.

Mathematics is by far my biggest weakness. I have never been good at math. I do remember in our orientation the topic of math was discussed, and my fears were eased a little. The speaker made me feel that the math studied in this program is math that would be applied in real life as opposed to regular algebra. Other weaknesses I need to work on are self-management and emotional control, self-esteem and confidence, time management skills and seeking support from others. (Bethel University, 2014) It seems that the theme in my low scores has to do with my character or personality.

My strengths vary some. I personally consider honesty and integrity to be my strongest area. (Bethel University, 2014) Honesty is extremely important to me and it always has been. I consider reading to be a strength because I love to read. I also rated ability to conduct research, curiosity, goal setting, organization and focus as strengths as well.
