Despite wrapping up the most successful regular season in franchise history, there is a general sense around the league that the Toronto Raptors have accomplished nothing.

21 seasons of (mostly) underachievement doesn’t help.
1 playoff series win and 7 playoff series losses don’t help.
Zero best-of-seven playoff series wins definitely won’t help.
Consecutive playoff series losses as the higher seed……well, you get the picture!

Toronto has been at or near the top of the conference standings all season long. Their longest losing streak was only 3, which occurred twice……in November. The only loss to the Cavaliers this year was followed by a franchise record 11-game win streak. Speaking of the defending East champs, Toronto won the season series, 2-1. In fact, Toronto won the season series against EVERY EAST PLAYOFF TEAM!

The one team that gave Toronto trouble was Chicago, who won all 4 games. Last season, the Wizards were swept in the regular season by Toronto, but returned the favour by sweeping the Raptors in the playoffs. While both of those teams would surely strike fear in the hearts of Toronto fans, neither are playoff-bound.

The only significant injury Toronto had to overcome was DeMarre Carroll, who missed 42 games with a knee injury. Toronto went 31 – 11 in his absence and managed to get him back in time for the playoffs.
