2003 was a clean start for the Miami Heat after selecting Dwyane Wade. When you hear the name Dwyane Wade, the first place you will always think of is Miami without a doubt. The legacy, and joy Wade has left in this city will be eternally remembered. The exhausting, yet happy morning after having your basketball team win a championship is the feeling Dwyane Wade made sure each and every one of felt at least 3 times while he played for Miami. The people of Miami have never been more devastated. It felt as if a piece of you was taken away whether you enjoyed the sport of basketball or not. The month of a June was a nostalgic one for the people of Miami. Billboards with Dwyane Wade’s face filled the highways, and people in white jerseys with the number 3 filled the streets showing their love and support for our dear Dwyane Wade. “I can’t believe he is really going back home after all of these years” I managed to overhear one person say to the next. Wherever you went it was hard to avoid hearing his name. For 13 years, Dwyane Wade managed to do spectacular things for the city he took pride in proudly playing for. The people of Miami will forever show their support and respect for him because he will always, and forever be the face of Miami. Today you still manage to run into people wearing Wade jerseys to Miami Heat games in the American Airlines Arena. Miami will always be place that bleeds red and white for the love of basketball.
