I. The year was 1918. Woodrow Wilson was president, World War 1 was ending, the Spanish flu became a pandemic, and the Boston Red Sox won the World Series. The last event would not occur for another 86 years until 2004 when the Boston Red Sox emerged victorious.
II. The 2004 Boston Red Sox season was a magical rollercoaster ride that had all the thrills of a Hollywood blockbuster. In the end, it culminated in sweet victory for the long suffering fans of one of baseball’s most historic franchises as they ended the infamous curse of the Bambino. Winning this World Series for Red Sox was like the feeling of your Birthday, Christmas, and the fourth of July all at the same time.
III. As a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan the season holds a very special

The Red Sox proved to be the dominant team in the series and swept the Angels out of the playoffs winning 4 straight games.
B. After dismantling the Angels the Red Sox had a date with their worst enemies the New York Yankees.
B.1. The series got off to the worst possible start imaginable start for the Sox.
B.1.a) The futility was punctuated in game 3 when the Red Sox were dismantled 19-8
B.1.b) Things looked so dire that Bob Ryan, a sportswriter for the Boston Globe, wrote "They are down, 3–0, after last night's 19–8 rout, and, in this sport, that is an official death sentence. Soon it will be over, and we will spend another dreary winter lamenting this and lamenting that."
B.1.c) In order to keep their World Series hopes and dreams alive the Red Sox would have to overcome a 3-0 deficit, something that had never been done in professional baseball history.
B.2. According to the ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the series, many fans of the team did not believe the team could still win and were looking to just win 1 game.
B.2.a) Going into the ninth inning however it looked bad.
