The District Clerk’s office of Webb county, located inside the Justice Center in Laredo, Texas, is one of the most important offices within its local court systems due to its constant mission to provide the most organized and efficient clerical duties for every single court case. This office is basically the “support staff” for the District Courts at Law and County Courts at Law which their roles include gathering data, issuing processes (such as warrants), reporting to agencies such as the Department of Public Safety, overseeing payments for child support, and being in charge of the whole jury duty process. The issue is that there was no decision-making process that influenced how the change would be communicated to the rest of the organization. In the normative model of decision making, there is a process that includes five stages which were overlooked since there was no decision as to how they were to implement this change without causing confusion. Some of the members within this organization received no training on the usage of the new e-filing program and, in a way, forced those who were required to use it to slow down their productivity. If they presented changes with a identify and reply strategy, it would allow employees to express their concerns and management would then address these concerns and get rid of the hasty forced changed they applied at first which would only cause resistance or a decrease in efficiency and accuracy within those affected. Furthermore, when I was in the process of becoming an intern for the District Clerk’s office, words such as exciting and hands on were used to describe the job position. The stories employees and supervisors shared with us made the job seem all that more appealing; however, these descriptions were far from how my experience went about. After a few weeks, the other interns and I completely hated the job since we wanted to be more engaged with the community and the case process, but we were usually stuck in one of the compressed storage rooms filing huge stacks of papers. My recommendation would be to acquire a realistic job preview so prospective employees are aware of exactly what their position entails instead of hyping up the job and ending up with unsatisfied
