Personal Narrative: My Past Work Experience

I have always been interested in learning and using new ideas. Throughout my life, I have invariably drawn from my life experiences, newly learned ideas and my continuing education to help problem-solve sensibly and realistically allowing me to move forward or help others reach their goals.

Although I have no formal teaching experience, in my past work and involvement in organized sports, I have repeatedly used the Progressive philosophy. When dealing with 13 & 14 year olds many situations arise such as bullying, personality clashes or simply not understanding a drill or play. I deal with these situations by asking questions to stimulate a discussion, allowing them to draw on past experiences; positive or negative, consequently allowing them to come up with a solution or grasp the knowledge they are seeking.

When rolling out new policies or procedures, I would do things gradually over a period of time, involving the employees in discussion periods, allowing them the opportunity to ask questions, give feedback and gain a better understanding as to why the process or policy is changing. By taking a gradual practical approach and involving employees in the process, created employee confidence, allowing the changes to take place smoothly and the company to move forward in

Thanks Yeni for the question and a pretty interesting one at that. So when looking at my GPA, I never looked at myself as the smartest kid or the least educated. Throughout school I mainly got A-C's occasionally honor roll, but never anything more. That was until fall 2017 of college when I finally got Straight A's for the first time. All though I never thought about how someones GPA could affect how they work, until now.…

My work ethic was instilled in me when I was four or five. My mom was a single mother who worked incredibly hard and set an example for my older brother and I. She only wanted the best for us, which back then meant enrolling us into Santiam Christian,no matter the price. Growing up I learned to work hard for what I want. My mom, brother , and I cleaned the school in order to earn tuition money. To go to school I needed to work for it.…

The book has an interesting approach at defining what identity is. I really appreciated how the book opened my eyes to how identity can be seen. For example we dont just have an identity, because we actually do one. As the book put its “its not just having a symbolic sense of it, but doing it in the presence of people and doing it well in there eyes”. Although, their is still much more to defining what identity is I will do my best to define exactly what is.…

At my current jobs, we have different scenarios that come in throughout the day. Most days the goals and tasks stay the same. Sometimes, depending on the circumstance, like when advisors are not available, I would have to use my problem solving skills, and figure out how to do things on your own. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month, where management are really clear in providing feedback on future goals, what needs to be worked on, and what the team does well. They make sure that these goals are attainable to the team, by constantly asking us different ways they can provide help, and make our job easier.…

Considering my professional experience, I can say that a school principal who cares about his teachers is paramount to the success not only of the teachers but also of the students and all staff members. A few years ago, I worked for a school whose principal was always putting together meetings to discuss with all of us about best professional development courses that he had in mind to offer. He used to do that to ask us if we agreed with his ideas, give us an opportunity to express our concerns and success experiences in classes. Also, she would observe our classes as often as possible, not to criticize but to give us some new ideas and sometimes eulogize our work. These attitudes truly made us all better professionals and made us all give…

I am quiet. Talking with people was never my strong suit. My heart raced every time I would need to communicate with a stranger, let alone a classmate or teacher. So I set out to defeat this part of my life that was preventing me from being my best.…

For the past two weeks, I have been working almost every day and I did not have enough time to go somewhere and complete this assignment. So, I decided to do it while I am at the store, working. Today, I started my 4 pm shift by observing my co-worker count the money in the register that needs to be closed down. Part of our job at Carter’s is to keep a watch on the other employee when the cash drawer is open. I can hear the clinging sound of the coins as she is putting them back in the drawer.…

Everyone worked together and treated each other like a family so that helped me to be comfortable working with them. The workplace was always very clean, which also created a nice environment around me to focus on my work.
