"Gorilla", "ape", and "monkey" are only some of the words used to describe Leslie Jones after starring in the Ghostbusters remake. This led to an intense debate over whether there should be restrictions on free speech. Even if the comments about Leslie Jones were considered as hate speech, it is still a part of free speech. When the government claims free speech is a right but censors unpopular opinions, it is censorship. It means that anyone is allowed to say anything only if you don't say certain things. This is a concept followed by totalitarian governments therefore America, a democracy, should not put any restrictions on free speech. The first amendment grants the right to free speech for all Americans. Therefore, that right must be protected
