The schools and government form ways for students to speak to each other without offending anyone. These forms of speech do not allow ideas to spread because of the chance somebody may feel insulted. Various conversations about religion and philosophy are banned because not everyone shares the same viewpoint. The schools argue they are respecting others differences but at the same time they are destroying intellectualism. Intellectualism is strongly tied to philosophy and religion by the ideas they present. One way religion is connected to intellectualism is by the theories on how the world was created. In the first book of the Christian Bible author states that God created the heavens, earth, and all the life on earth (New American Bible Revised Edition, Gen. chp. 1). The Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota people believe that Wakan Tanka breathed his spirit across the world to create life. The various ways people believe how the world was created is interesting, but because students are prohibited from speaking about it, the ideas are not passed on and discussed. Many philosophical ideas are also banned from being analyzed because of politically correct speech. Students all over the United States are learning the exact same things. There is no variety in high school education. Many citizens dislike Common Core because of the increased stress that it puts on students. Content from each math and language arts chapters must be tested according to the standards (Common Core).
