GMOs, also know as genetically modified organisms, are organisms that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. Organisms that are genetically modified cannot be found in nature this way; they must undergo a genetic engineering process, commonly referred to as GE. “In more than 60 countries around the world, including Australia, Japan, and all of the countries in the European Union, there are significant restrictions or outright bans on the production and sale of GMOs.” (The nonGMO Project). This is due to the facts that GMOs lead to major heath risks and health problems. Studies on GM food have shown that the food can leave material behind in humans, possibly causing long-term health problems. Overall GMOs are considered unhealthy to the human body and should be banded in all countries, including the United States. The idea of man-made DNA came about by a grad student at Stanford University Medical School in 1973 (Shireen). GMOs were first created to answer underlying questions in medicine and biology. However once scientist started to produces GMOs to benefit agriculture everything went down hill. “Many foods consumed today are either genetically modified (GM) whole foods, or contain ingredients derived from gene modification technology” (The Impact). All these foods that we consume that are GM foods give our bodies greater health risks. Many studies done on animals show many serious health risks linked to GM foods,…
