What are GMOs? GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are an organism that has had its genetic material modified. I believe that GMOs are beneficial to our world and shine a light in the future. It’s very important in developing countries where food is scarce and expensive. It creates food that tastes better and is healthier. GMOs even decrease the use of pesticides which reduces environmental pollution, making air and water quality better. Though some may argue that GMOs are evil, I believe the pros outweigh the cons especially in developing countries/regions in poverty. Overall GMOs are positive and can help change the future. GMOs can cause organisms to grow bigger and faster. This increases the …show more content…
By making food more tasty and nutritious, it will cause people to be healthier because people will likely eat the tasty foods. For example, white rice is low in vitamin A so a team of scientists worked to get more vitamin A in the rice. They added two daffodil and one bacterial gene to the rice plants and were able to get what they wanted. This breakthrough saved the lives of many who were previously dying of vitamin A deficiency and is one of the many examples of why GMOs are good. Genetically Modified Organisms decrease the use of pesticides and by doing so, GMOs are reducing environmental pollution. Pesticides used on farms can runoff during rain and pollute nearby rivers, killing animals in the process. By using GMOs, we can reduce environmental pollution therefore saving many animals. Not only does it save animals but by reducing environmental pollution we can sustain better air and water
