The Grim side of GMOs
The ongoing debate around the world is, are genetically modified organisms, also known as GMOs, good for you and the environment? Research however shows GMO’s are bad for you, the environment and have had not enough testing.
Imagine coming home, the whole day you've been waiting for that special treat in the fridge, nothing bad could happen from eating this treat on the outside, but inside your kidneys are slowly being destroyed and immune system weakened. These GMOs are terrible because of extreme health risks. GMOs can cause severe damage to your immune system liver and kidneys (U.S News). This means that eating something as harmless as an orange or tomato can result in extreme consequences. At the same time GMOs can cause new allergies and hurt the effect of antibiotics. GMO foods can create new symptoms that won't be stopped by the antibiotics because of their altered cell makeup, and results in illnesses and who knows what. Dr. William Davis author of Wheat Belly states a new protein gliadin which

The only reason the plants don’t need pesticides is because they have pesticides genetically altered into them. These types of pesticide in the plants are called neonicotinoids. These neonicotinoids affect the nervous system of insects resulting in paralyzation and death. These neonicotinoids work great on insects but also bees. Neonicotinoids have killed large amounts of bees and we need bees to help the reproduction of 85% of the world's flowers and 35% of the world's crops (PSU EDU). The use of gmos could extremely affect our world.
In conclusion GMOs could possibly help us but the risks are far too great. It risks our health by possibly giving disease or tumors. They have had not enough testing and even still we can't be sure they won't hurt us. Not only could they hurt but could have an effect on environment by destroying native plants and genetically altering plants

Though one might argue that the relatively recent developments in the field of GMOs have the inherent risk of unknown negative health consequences, the claimed “ side effects can be described as little more than unsubstantiated. Since their conception in the mid 1990s, GMOs have been extensively studied, with over 1700 peer reviewed studies published between 2003 and 2013 alone. Hundreds of those were independently funded, with no conflict of interest or compensation from the Agriculture Industry. One could also argue that GMOs can, in some cases, be even safer than Organic produce. This is due to the fact that the amount of product testing before a specific strain is allowed to be put on the market is considerably more rigorous in comparison to unmodified organisms.…

Many people think that GMOs are bad and that they mess with Mother Nature, and it’s technically playing god. But there are reasons for genetically modifying organisms because it can help for the betterment of mankind or it could just be for further learning the science of GMOs. In my opinion I think that GMOs are bad for the economy because of the many bad possibilities that could come from it. Such as:genetically modified corn and soy which are fed to rats, and that could lead to kidney liver. Even though GMOs are thoroughly tested there are many health risks that can cause humanity to be in a world epidemic.…

There are runours that GMO’s cause cancer in humans or autism in children. Another big reason people are so against the GM good is simply because it isn’t natural. Many scientific studies, however, have proven that GMO’s do not cause cancer or autism or anything along the lines of such. People are also strongly against GMO’s because they see it as animal cruelty, since animals such as pigs, cows, or chickens are bred to be more pleasing to humans. Some plus sides to genetically modified organisms include the food being able to withstand herbicides and pesticides, survive raging temperatures (whether hot or cold), produce more seeds, and make bigger, more appealing plants.…

Pesticides are man-made substances that are developed in labs to fight and kill insects that could harm plants, says, Naturopathic Doctor, Lauren Procopio from the Natural Medicine of Seattle (2013). In conventional farming, these chemicals are drizzled on plants to repel insects from eating them. It is like an invisible shield surrounding the plant, making sure the bugs are dead or gone. The strategy is great for farmers who do not want to lose money on crops infested with bugs, but they should consider the aftereffects. Nation of Change journalist, Lisa Garber, pointed out a few of those aftereffects in her article, “7 Nasty and Crazy Effects of Pesticides.”…
