Review Of A Screamo Concert

3 Doors Down, Mumford and Sons, Eminem, Foo Fighters, and Blues are the bands and styles of music that are always on shuffle in my playlist. I enjoy a variety of music genres but not all. The goal of this music ethnography was to get me out of my comfort zone. So when I heard about a “Screamo” concert, I knew it was the one for me. I enjoy Classic Rock, and some Heavy Metal, but not this genre. Straight Outta Hell tour was coming to Greensboro, so that is where I went.

Stright Outta Hell tour was a Scremo, Hard Core Rock tour. It was made up of four bands: Oceano, Carnifex, Whitechapel, and Suicide Silence. It was held on October 17, 2016 at 6:30pm. I like one of the most interesting parts about this concert is where it was held. The concert

Wearing all black, or dark clothing. The clothing was mostly jeans, tshirts, tank tops and skirts. Not a set of high heels in the entire place. Tennis Shoes seemed to be the footwear of choice. Once the show started, I understood why. The people that were use to this type of show drank their beer early and were on the dance floor, right next to the stage. You could see the longing for the start of the show in their eyes. I safely placed myself at the top of the staircase, so i could overlook and see everything happening. I wasn 't the only one at a safe distance. They place was crowded. The dance floor was full and there were people all around me. There was guy standing next to me. His name was Zack. He asked me if I had seen any of the bands before? I told him no, and why I was actually there. He said he had been following Suicide Silence for a while. So I asked what he liked about them? What actually made them stand apart from the other bands. Funny thing, he said, the lyrics. I chuckled, because before i came to the show i looked up some of the bands songs. I couldn 't understand a word they said. That is the biggest reason i don 't listen to that kind of music. I even looked up the lyrics to one song, nothing. So i asked how he actually understood what they said. He explained that when he started listing to that music it was for working out and he just liked the drums and guitars. The …show more content…
From the first kick drum beat to the last guitar high pitched note, the crowd didn 't stop moving or screaming. The sound was deafening. I swear for the first 30 mins of the show, all i heard was the kick drum. Reminded me of the Pow Wows. The kick drum just made steady beats the entire time. There were lights of all different colors. The crowd was going crazy. The floor seemed to be alive. From my position, looked as if the floor was just a wave of bodies going up and down. Every now and then a gap would form in the crowd and someone or a few people would start dancing. Slinging their arms over their heads, in a windmill type fashion. I was laughing my ass off. Looked like they were being attacked by bees. Zack called it hard core dancing. Basically, from my understanding, you start slinging your arms, moving your feet and turn around in a circle, hoping to not hit someone. Reminded me of my nephew walking in the room and saying hey, watch this. Just no pattern to it. Just moved to the

On September 9th I attended a Phi Slam event called Kaleidoscopic Color-Dressed Chromatic Dance Fest. This was a social dance event that is completely dry and it is essentially a giant dance party. The guys in Phi Slam, which is a Christian organization that is similar to a fraternity but they do not do typical frat things such as drinking, hazing or smoking, set up the event. Phi Slam has events just like fraternities and sororities do. This event was just one of the many events they put on throughout the year.…

Summer Twins Review: A Dreamy Dance Party Kicking off Valentine’s Day weekend with great music is not a bad way to dive into the holiday, for couples and singles alike. This last Friday, February 12, Summer Twins performed at Acerogami, Pomona, CA, joined by Veronica Bianqui. The entire event had a drinks-with-friends vibe, framed by the venue’s exposed brick, low lighting, projected music videos, and a few heart-shaped balloons at the stage. The beauty of smaller venues is the level of comfort they create. Conversation before and after the show flowed easily, from excitement about the performers to stray cats and operatic voicemails.…

Personal Narrative It took us about 3 hours to get to Shakopee, it was only 60 degrees, but with the thousands of people lined up, waiting to get in, it felt like 90. We stood in that line for two hours. For awhile, we talked, we met a variety of people, we laughed, we were excited. But once we got closer to the front of the line we all got quiet, this is it, we were in, we were all going to see our idols.…

On April 28, 2016 the Redfield Proscenium Theatre is full of excitement from energized parents, peers, professors, and choreographers, as everyone patiently waits for the Spring Dance Concert to start. The lights are finally dimmed and the applause stops as soon as the stage lights turn on. The concert starts off with “Space Taken” by Katie Dahlaw which explores gender stereotypes and ends with a piece by Kathleen Hermesdorf titled “Fern” that starts off with dancers surrounded around a Fern. The overall concert left the lady sitting next to me in awe as she asked me for a tissue to wipe the tears falling from her tear ducks. I did not have any expectations as I entered the show because I did not want to be disappointed.…

The Grateful Dead Movie By Launy schweiger The opening is a cartoon with psychedelic music and out of this world spaced themed pinball game, much like the Monty python opening in “The Meaning of Life” hinting a baseline of their music style. That at the every end turns into the real opening credits of the movie filled with a variety of American popular culture icons and symbols, and some cases parodies them, such as Uncle Sam's head turns into skeletal version of himself who starts to sing the opening song, or the Great Seal of the United States on fire, further hinting at the mixture of styles the band uses in their music. To Fully grasp the band and their style we first must understand them, and their relationship with one another and the fans.…

This lasted about twenty minutes because I could not enjoy the concert because people were fighting, throwing up, falling down, and being loud and ignorant. My friends that rode with me to the concert also wanted to move away from all of the chaos. We decided to move to the section where the families were and we enjoyed the concert better where we were compared to the section of chaos. Once we moved sections I really enjoyed my first concert at Walnut Creek…

This would create a good environment for many people at the concert due to their love of parties and the similarities it showed to a party. The most memorable part of the concert was the atmosphere that I experienced rather than the music because it was like nothing I had experienced before. Zombie Intruders was one of my favorite songs from this concert. I think that it allowed me to focus more on dynamics which improved my sound quality. As a musician, I think this song was very enjoyable with all of the different sound effects incorporated. I liked how different this song was. Usually when common people who do not play any instruments think of orchestra, they think of boring classical music.…

The emotions expressed by not only the music but by how the musicians looked while playing these pieces made me believe that this show meant a lot to them because they would sway to the music when they weren’t playing. It had my emotions spiral out of control because some of the music was happy then it turned sad in an instance, then it would go right back to something whimsical. It’s not the typical kind of music that I would listen to daily but I am happy that I got to attend this event and hear something that I wouldn’t normally.…

I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone.…
