Music Concert Experience

I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone. When the three performers came out they were playing the Cello and the Piano. There was also an older lady there that was singing what sounded like opera singing. All of the individuals that were performing were teachers in at this campus. I was very surprised that we have this much talent at our music department from the teachers. With the first act they performed songs called Mercy, Stones, Shelter, and The Lacemaker. On some of the pieces it seamed like the piano player was not doing a very good job at keeping up with the music because he seamed like he was getting lost in the music or just not able to keep up with all of the notes that he was playing. The lady that was …show more content…
I enjoyed hearing everyone that performed. I was very blown away with this performance. I am very glad that this campuses faculty is so joined together even if it is doing small concerts like this. I wish that I was able to hear the second act play but I guess I will have to go back and go to their last concert that they are performing this year. If I would have stuck with playing an instrument in college I would love to be involved in activities like concerts to perform for the whole school. I can not wait to go to other concerts that the school puts on but I hope that the audience in the next performances show a little more respect for the individuals playing and not stay on their phone for the whole time with the brightness up because it is very

I appreciated the effort and music the mariachi group gave in their performance. I noticed how the trumpet usually took the main role while the violins supported the trumpets voice, usually by pizzicato. The guitar and guitarrón were mainly the background music that played the same rhythm over and over. It made me realize the beauty of…

Holiday Concert Evaluation After a long summer vacation and a few months that seemed to go by fast, but felt like a lifetime, Concert Band finally had its first formal winter concert. List three positive musical aspects about the concert: I have to admit, since playing in Concert Band for two years now, this winter concert felt different than the rest. (In a total good way.) Maybe it's because I’m an 8th grader this year, and I know the rest of the 8th graders in this class so that way we’re able to participate in all the inside jokes we have as a band.…

All the musical performances were done very well and had great moments such as the four hands on the piano, Claude Debussy, which showed exceptional skills on the piano from Kevin Won and Rex Chou. Furthermore, there was quite a few people there for a string of wonderful pieces of music. Additionally, there were unique pieces such as an original composition which was played with guitars which no other performances used. Another was the Tristette by Chopin which was performed by Linda Lin (piano) and Cindy Le (violin) and the violin emphasized the sadistic tone that Chopin wanted when written. The finale was more like a performance of a school band with the whole Music Society coming together for the last piece of music, Serenade for Strings by Edward…

Watching and listening to the musical performance gives fuller satisfaction and joy than merely listening to it. The most memorable part was that player’s expert level piano skills surprised every one of the audiences, the first time among all five concerts I've been this year, audience congratulated with a bouquet. The last two musicals of this recital, Rachmaninoff's Prelude, and Scriabin’s Etude were like an earworm just kept hearing them even after next day of the performance. I tried to search and learn the pieces, but it turns out that that musical pieces are extremely hard to play. Rachmaninoff’s is more like two mixers stroking the piano keys rather than fingers, extremely fast tempted.…

This event was amusing. I enjoyed seeing the band playing for the sake of music, we do have some skilled individuals on campus. I can see there are different styles of jazz, some people seemed to prefer slow jazz, others a funky and yet other fast-paced. A fusion of both is appeals more to me. Yet I still lack musical knowledge in jazz.…

Moreover, since it was a solo performance, there was no communication among performers. Even though I could not see the performer because he was hide behind the organ, I could feel that I was putting a lot of energy in this piece to make it dramtic. I learned that there are different movements in pieces. For the first half of the concert I kept thinking the piece was over and was wondering why the conductor wasn’t stepping away and why no one was clapping. It turns out that the orchestra was actually just transitioning into the next movement of the piece. The first piece, Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concert, mvt 3 had two separate movements.…
