Wolves have packs, don’t they?” The Moon tentatively asked and the wolf looked away into the forest for a moment before slowly turning back to look up at the Moon. “I have never had a pack, dear Moon. I have always been alone.” The Moon looked down at the small grey wolf in the clearing and her determination slowly trickled back into her heart. She knew what it was like to be alone, and this wolf was not going to know that feeling for any longer. “Come with me, then,” The Moon started and the wolf looked up at her, confused. The Moon gave a small smile and continued. “I have travelled on my own since this land was formed, and you animals were simply dreams in the heavens not yet given physical space or form. I know loneliness and I know solitude but I have always longed for friendship. You can travel with me and I will be your friend.” The wolf simply stared up at the Moon with wide yellow eyes before she slowly stood up and smiled widely, showing off her razor sharp teeth. “I would be honored to travel with you, Moon, and grateful to have your …show more content…
“I may no longer be able to walk beside you, but I will always be watching over you. If you ever need my help, or wish to talk to me, howl up to the sky and I will hear it and answer,” She promises, and with that she leaves the earth she’s wandered for centuries and settles into a place amongst the heavens where she can still observe the earth and all her wolves. It takes but a turn after her absence for her to hear the howls, and the Moon realizes that this day would have been the day she would have visited the village. She smiles down at her wolves when she realizes that it is not a sad song they are howling, but one of joy, because even from down in their village they can see her sitting up in the sky and watching over them. They run around and play games in the forest, shifted into their wolf forms, and howl all throughout the night to the Moon, thanking her for her protection and her love and for bringing her wolf to their village so long ago. Every turn when the Sun has left the forest and has headed to the beaches to greet the ocean animals, the Moon will listen to the joyous howls of her wolves and know that they still remember her, and how she is always watching over
