The Influences On Sir Francis Drake's Life

Sir Francis Drake lived to be about fifty-five years old (1540 - 1596).
In 1540, Francis Drake was born in Tavistock, Devon, England.
Francis Drake was not only an English sea captain, but he was also a privateer, navigator, and a politician.
Francis Drake came from a middle class family, however he was well-educated in many subjects such as navigation, astronomy, and mathematics.
He started his adventurous career as a naval officer and then followed his cousin, John Hawkins, on slaves ships to Africa.
