The Importance Of Diversity In The Military

I admire your perspective regarding managing diversity in the Army because I am currently serving in the Air force. As a military member, you are correct that there is no other organization that manages all walks of life so efficiently. You have addressed bullying, and I believe that if we manage our people correctly, mangers can avoid looking like a bully. I serve as a chaplain and regularly advise senior leadership and have found out that a good portion of my conversations are about managing millennials. Senior leaders want to their subordinate to be productive, but they do not want to come off as being bullies. In applying some of the principles of the book to life advisement, I have learned that millennials focus on three things: detailed development of their careers, recognition and collaboration, and job perks (Kinnicki and Fugate, 2016).
The military spends much in retaining its members while attracting recruits. I believe that the military is making those changes as a direct result of managing diversity. Creating job satisfaction is integral in order retain employees (Fischer 2009). In seeing change within the Air Force, Airmen have several meetings throughout the year with their supervisors discussing education development, workplace collaboration and team building,

As mentioned in Philippians 2:3-4, our motivation is to serve others; this means people who are even different. In the Air Force, I am proud to say that diversity is a core theme that is seen throughout all workplaces. With this, comes the opportunity to minister to all people of all backgrounds. As a Chaplain, I engage in this challenge each day. There are moments where leadership would ask me advisement regarding their younger Airmen.
