However, unlike the movie that is aimed for the adults, the depiction of death in Disney movies is more subtle than the one in other genre of movies. Thus, amongst many movies released under Disney, the depiction of death can be seen in some of Disney production’s movies such as Lion King, and Brother Bear. Lion King, produced in 1994, is a story about Simba, a young lion, who will be the king after his father, Mufasa. However, blinded with jealousy, Scar, Mufasa’s brother, kills Mufasa and manipulates Simba’s thought into thinking that he is the one who cause his father’s death. Meanwhile, Brother Bear, released in 2003, is a story about Kenai, a young man who is turned into a bear after he killed a bear. The death of his brother and the death of Koda’s mother becomes the cause behind the meeting of Kenai and Koda. Interestingly, in this movie death appears as an important factor in the development of the story. Henceforth, as these two movies depicted death in their storylines, this paper will compare the depiction of death in these two movies and the response of the survivors to the death which is shown in these movies.
