Can you believe there’s two movies that are almost the same? Except ones in Disney and the others for adults. The two movies I am talking about are Hamlet by David Barron and The Lion King by Don Hahn. In the movie Hamlet the main character comes home from school to find out his fathers dead, his uncle married his mom, and he can not go back to school. Later in the movie he finds out Claudius (his uncle) killed his father, and Hamlet seeks for revenge. In The Lion King Simba is just a little kid when Mufasa (his father) starts to show him around since he is the future king, until Scar (his uncle) gets in the way. After Scar kills Mufasa he convinces Simba it was his fault and to run away. I will be telling you about how the movies are alike, characters who are alike, and how they killed the kings. …show more content…
In Hamlet Claudius killed Hamlet’s father and became king. At first Hamlet does not know that his uncle killed his father, but once he finds out he plans to kill his uncle. As you can see the movies are very alike and have the same story

When Simba went to the elephant graveyard without Mufasa’s permission, he nearly got attacked by hyenas, in which Mufasa fought off the hyenas to protect Simba. However, in Hamlet, King Hamlet was already deceased at the beginning of the play, leaving Hamlet curious regarding his father’s murderer and his mother’s tendency to move on rather fast following King Hamlet’s death. While King Hamlet could not assist Hamlet during tribulations, both King Hamlet and Mufasa guide their sons after their deaths. For instance, Mufasa appears in the clouds and encourages Simba to take his rightful throne from Scar. This relates to how King Hamlet appears as The Ghost, and tells Hamlet that Claudius killed him by pouring an elixir into his ear, ordering Hamlet to seek revenge.…

Every person has weaknesses, and someone may use those weak points for his own benefits. Thus, manipulation and exploitation of weakness easily take place more than people think. For example, fraud happens frequently by acquaintance or anonymous people in modern society. William Shakespeare shows examples of how one can control others and exploit their weaknesses in the plays, Hamlet and Othello. Characters in each play, especially antagonists, instigate tricks, deceptions, and manipulative stratagems against other characters.…

Hamlet is mirrored in a few ways in the sixth chapter of Song of Solomon. One way is the way in which Guitar is talking about the possibility of his death with Milkman in chapter six. Guitar is talking about how he became part of the group that kills white people and is doing it for the greater good, to avenge the terrible deaths of thousands of black people in the past. He says in response to Milkman saying he is going to get caught at some point, “ ‘ Maybe. But if I’m caught I’ll just just die earlier than I’m supposed to - not better than I’m supposed to.…

It’s natural for people to feel the need to get revenge when something is wrong or unfair has been done to them. If your husband cheated on you, would you just sit there and do nothing about it? Of course not, you would probably go cheat on him as well or maybe divorce him. In this example, seeking revenge will not solve the problem. It will just make things more difficult.…

I disliked the fact that Hamlet over thought every little thing and was unable to kill Claudius when the many opportunities he was given arose. But when it came to killing Polonius, and sending Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to their deaths, after finding his own letter ordering his death, that was easy and he acted on impulse. Which is what made me question Hamlet’s sanity. Was Hamlet enjoying acting insane and subconsciously did not want it to end therefore not really wanting to kill the king? When Hamlet was in the graveyard and met the grave digger who had no sympathy for the dead which offended Hamlet, I agreed with Hamlet.…

In the Lion King, the storytellers use the hero’s spiritual death and rebirth plotline to reveal how we as humans want our leaders to overcome obstacles to prove themselves worthy of leadership. In other words, we want our heroes to have experienced tragedy, to suffer emotionally from this tragedy, and then to become stronger as a result so they may lead us to salvation through their new wisdom. Without tragedy, we do not trust the leader has enough experience to lead us through difficult times. At the beginning of the Lion King, Simba was simply a fortunate son of a King who was set to gain power through inheritance without any sort of challenge set before him. Simba is confident, but without experiences to make him confident.…

In the book, Hamlet by: Shakespeare, there were so many characters I could have related to, but the one I believe that I related to the most was Horatio. Although we have our differences, and there are many, we can settle for a few similarities. Whenever Prince Hamlet needed him, Horatio was there. Horatio was a loyal friend to Prince Hamlet all the time and never let him down. One example of this is when Horatio helped Hamlet talk to his dead father, King Hamlet.…
