Becoming a great boss is just that, becoming. There will always be something new to learn, so it is a growing process. It is important as the boss to “manage yourself, manage your network, and manage your team” (Nobel, 2011, para. 1). There is a lot of responsibility in being the boss, and managing the affairs included will make the job easier. This is a process that can take some time to get right, so working on it, and its new avenues and issues by keeping up with the latest information will be very helpful. One day an employee can come into work with the same problem that has been had by many, but they see it in an unfamiliar way. Sharing information can not only come up with new innovative ideas, it can also allow employees to feel they are needed (Lacey, 2013, para. 6). Everyone wants to feel needed, as if what they contribute is good for humankind. Collaborating can bring thoughts, ideas, and brainstorming together to create a final project that many can take credit for. On top of the stresses that each business day can bring, a comforting feeling of being needed, or good at what one does can help even out the day. Communication, collaboration, and conscious are showing themselves as significant tools in becoming a great boss. It appears that the work relationship can be compared to a personal relationship. In this sense, it should be easy to be a great boss, as all that is necessary is to treat it well like one would a personal relationship. The employee wants to hear, be heard, and for it to be taken seriously even if the suggestion is not used at the time. To be a great boss is to be a great person.
