A good leader has to be able to know how to act and respond in different situations because then they will understand how to handle them in the best way possible. A good leader needs to be able to empathize with his or her peers and it will allow people to want to express their problems, difficulties, and concerns to you without hesitation. She is a nineteen year old activist for the right to education, especially female education. In Pakistan where she lives, girls are not allowed to go to school, but she became an education activist and with the support of her parents, went to school even know if she was caught she could be killed. On October 9, 2012, a Taliban gunman shot Yousafzai in the head in an attempt to murder her while she was on her way to school. Against all odds, she lived and pulled through. She now continues to be an activist towards making education possible for everyone. Quite frankly, I find her courage and determination incredible and empowering. Another influential person to me is my former band director, Mark Russell. Mr. Mark Russell came to the Pass Christian School District to a high school band of roughly twelve people, and within only a few short years he was able to help the band grow to sixty plus people. The first few years he was at the school district, he managed both the middle school band program and the high school band program. He was able to get both band programs to ones you can be proud of their accomplishments. He was committed to the musical success of each and every student of his, and his determination led to a great foundation for both school’s band programs and their success.
