The Great Compromise By Roger Sherman And Oliver Ellsworth

Improved Essays
The great compromise was a way to get small state to not go and uproar because they were getting tired of being ignored and being forgotten because they didn’t have a big population.
The big states were wanted more representatives based on population and thought if you have more people then you would get a lot more control over what laws go and don’t go.
The little states were getting mad because they didn’t have much power when it came to law making they just had to sit back and deal with it but they were never happy about it.
Until Roger Sherman and Oliver Ellsworth wrote the great compromise so little states won’t be left out.

This was a massive victory for the north states, as it deemed far more land to be free than slave states. According to those agreements, only present-day Arkansas and part of Oklahoma were to tolerate slavery, whereas the area that was sentenced to become free states spanned as far as present-day Idaho.
