The number of animals killed each year in the United States alone varies between 17 and 70 million. The ethics of animal testing have been questioned for a long time now. Ethical questions are the main reason why many animal right activists want it banned in every country.Humans do not want the idea brought to their head that animals are on the same level as us. The similarity is terrifying and makes the cruelty obvious. Although animals cannot speak and are not capable of our thinking, they surely do not deserve to have products tested on them or even go through horrible experiments just so the world can have a better understanding to our scientific world. Animal testing should be completely modified to the point where animals do not suffer at all, experimentation is cruel and unfair and does not have enough beneficial results to deem it necessary. Activists feel that to this day, there should be no good reason why any living thing should be subjected to this cruel punishment and torture just for serving another being’s needs.
Many different tests are done on the animals in order to predict the effect it will have on humans. For example, one test called the Draize eye test is done for eye irritancy. It is a test created by John Draize, a scientist which worked for the United States Food and Drug Administration.
