When the alarm sounds in the morning, many people find themselves choosing to tap the snooze button instead of getting out of bed and heading to the gym.These days people hear day after day how exercise is beneficial for the body. Many just continue to push it off because of all the busyness in which life already brings. Now, many are finally coming to the realization that it can have significant benefits on the body. But, along with working out, of course, like everything else, comes a few negative effects, for example addiction, but also a number of positive effects, effects that outweigh the negatives of exercise.
Before digging into the effects of exercise, which can be both positive and negative, it is very important that one understands what exercise is. “By definition, exercise is a physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive for the purpose of conditioning any part of the body” (Larson 1556). There are three main types of exercise that one can perform. They are as follow: Isotonic, Isokinetic, and Isometric. When the muscle contracts, there is a movement of the joints. This type of motion is known as an Isotonic exercise. If a person wanted to do an Isotonic exercise, he/she would most likely do push-ups, chin-ups, or sit-ups (Larson 1557). Another type of exercise is referred to as an Isometric exercise. During this exercise the muscle will contract, nonetheless in the affected joints, there will be no motion.
