Shooting My First Hunting Essay

Decent Essays
The most challenging part about writing my personal essay was putting all my emotions, like excitement, happiness, nervousness, and being anxious, about this day into words. There are not many days that I experience all those types of emotions in one day. For the personal essay I chose to write about the day I shot my first deer, well really two of them in one hunt. The excitement that this brought about was too hard to even put into words. Shooting two deer in one hunt is not an easy task for any hunter, especially a novice one, which is where my nervousness came from. I chose this topic because it was a very happy day in my life, not only for myself, but also for my family. My whole family has hunted since I was a baby; therefore, the …show more content…
I do not usually have to schedule a time to visit my granny; however, this required it because she had to be feeling good in order to conduct an interview. This became a challenge because there are far and few days in between that my granny feels good. I truly enjoyed writing the profile essay, because it gave me a chance to get even closer to my granny by learning more about her migranes. I had to feel emotions that I did not expect by doing this interview. Even though this topic was easy for me to choose and it helped me build a better relationship with my granny, it became more emotional than I expected. This was something I was very interested in learning about, but put it off because I knew I would become upset. There was never a time that I intended on changing my topic. I anticipated learning more about her migraines and how everything began. This essay was very easy, but emotional in the same sense, for me to write because I am very close with my granny, I know a lot about her, and it was a very interesting topic. Overall, I enjoyed the interview experience because it gave me a chance to learn more about my granny and how much she is suffering; however, all the emotions that came about was very challenging for …show more content…
I found this essay very hard because you had to dig very deep into the ad, and if the ad didn 't have enough information, which I feel that mine didn’t, I ran out of things to say. The statement was a very obvious one, especially because it was written in bold and dark ink. The Aveeno Active Naturals Absolutely Ageless cream ad is the ad I chose for this essay, because it caught my attention right away. The very soft tones of this ad was very attracting, besides the beautiful model that was also placed into this ad. Through research of reviews, I found this product to have very positive critiques, especially about the statement it was trying to make to attract the consumer. The only thing I found easy was deciding on the persuasive techniques that was used, those were very obvious within the ad. Knowing what I know now, I would have chose a different type of ad for this essay which would have had more things to discuss; therefore, it would not have been so challenging to find things to talk

Mirta Ojio’s book Hunting Season, Immigration and Murder in an All-American Town is based on a true story of an immigrant’s murder that turned a small American town on Long Island village of Patchogue into a war zone for immigration rights. In this critical reflection paper, I will discuss and analyze three key issues or themes that were represented in the Hunting Season and elaborate how these concepts connect with those of Governing Immigration through Crime by Dowling and Inda. The first concept is that of the Membership Theory, a theory which “limits individual rights and privileges to the members of a social contract between the government and the people” (Dowling & Inda,2013). The Membership theory often marks out boundaries of who is an accepted member of society and who isn’t, which was demonstrated in Hunting Season when Marcelo Lucero traveled from Ecuador to Long Island.…

In 2010, Old Spice launched a series of humorous commercials featuring Isaiah Mustafa as “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like.” They are incredibly successful commercials, albeit strange. Portrayed in them are grandiose and lavish lifestyles featuring costly belongings ranging from gondolas to horses to yachts. The commercials were an overnight success and quickly became a cultural phenomenon, generating significant word-of-mouth buzz online and offline. In its commercial, Old Spice effectively convinces its viewers of the urgency surrounding their new product by appealing to their own underlying desires, affecting their decision making without being cognitively recognized. The narrator achieves this by specifying the foundations of attractiveness,…

Advertisements are all around us, they have become part of our everyday life. This makes it easier to not pay any attention to them. Since we really are not paying attention to advertisements, it makes the companies who make these ads work harder to get our attention. I have compared two advertisements, although both advertisements are not selling the same, or even similar products, I believe the way they are relaying the message is something they have in common.…

Advertising is a form of marketing communication used to promote something, usually using special techniques to sell items to the general population. The advertisement I picked for this assignment is one that is promoting the proactiv products. Today i’m going to be deconstructing this ad in detail, exposing several persuasive methods that proactiv used in their ad to make it successful. I picked this ad because I felt it incorporated a series of advertising techniques that wouldn't commonly be used to exhibit a product; especially in the beauty industry. I think the main target audience is straight, young, single acne conscious women, but it obviously also applies to people of any gender or sexuality.…

Deer hunting is a great sport I love the excitement and the rush that you get from an animal. I am always looking to improve on techniques for being quiet when the deer are approaching my stand I like to stand when a deer is coming than sitting down because it gives me more room and I can pull my bow a lot easier than sitting down. But some hunters like to sit down so they don’t scare the deer away, but I think it’s more of a challenge to do. As a deer hunter there is a right time and a wrong time for standing up when you are in an treestand like for one reason it’s a risky maneuver when you are trying not to spook a deer when standing up.…

    Hunting Hypothesis Essay

It is clear at this point that early hominids actively hunted early in their emergence and hunting has altered the way in which social interactions developed. The hunting hypothesis became widely supported to explain the origin of bipedalism or to interpret early human adaptation to savannas and the early archaeological record. Apparent confirmation of the hunting hypothesis came with archaeological evidence demonstrating that predation had always been a part of human society. Though with that being said there was a time when there was more than one early hominid that actively hunted. Why is it that we were the only species to survive?…

Hunt for the Wilderpeople Film Taika Waititi ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’ is about a young troubled adolescent boy, named Ricky. After years of being thrown around countless foster homes at the age of 13 years old, Ricky feels he has found himself a stable family environment. But with a disturbance in the family and his backyard being hundreds of miles worth of native bush, troubles arise and he finds himself running from authorities, as they are on a manhunt after suspecting Ricky has been kidnapped. Two main themes which stood out to me as a Maori viewer living between my two parents homes were how stereotypical barriers create an image for people in today’s society and how ‘family’ influence a child’s development growing up. I felt close to Ricky as he is the perfect portrayal of a young Maori boy..…
